FAQs ~ Frequently Asked Questions

What is NAET?
NAET (an acronym for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) is a treatment that utilizes a form of acuPRESSURE, which is the manual stimulation of acu points with pressure. This non-invasive, needle-free technique is a gentle method that can be highly effective for all types of allergies and hypersensitivities.  It is definitely kid-friendly.

How does NAET work to treat allergies/sensitivities?
NAET seems to have a balancing effect on the Autonomic Nervous System. It can desensitize your response to environmental, food and other allergens quite quickly. However, one must also keep in mind that other issues need to be addressed for a “permanent” elimination.

What types of conditions respond to NAET?

  • asthma
  • rashes and other histamine reactions
  • chronic fatigue
  • fibromyalgia
  • gluten and other food sensitivities
  • leaky gut
  • environmental sensitivities
  • various auto-immune disorders
  • chronic and difficult health challenges

What should I expect for my initial visit?
We’ll do an evaluation to discover what you are sensitive to at that moment in time. Whether or not you receive a treatment (chiropractic or NAET or a combination) that day is dependent on what’s happening with you at that particular moment.

How many treatments will I need?
Treatment plans will vary depending on the severity, duration and nature of your particular condition. Acute problems may be resolved after several sessions; chronic issues, however, will require additional treatments and other re-balancing techniques. If your response to treatments is unsatisfactory, then I may recommend modification of your treatment plan, further diagnostic testing or perhaps a referral to an appropriate practitioner.  If you have had blood or skin-prick testing results elsewhere, we want to know the results.  In some cases, we will recommend you have these tests done.

I seem to see a few people over and over again when I visit Dr. Gary’s office. Does that mean if I start Allergy Elimination that I’ll be going for the rest of my life?
No. There are a few people whose immune systems have been so compromised that they require frequent interventions just to maintain status quo. This is rare but is increasing in frequency along with the allergies that follow it. There is actually a term for it: “TILT-Toxicant-Induced Lack of Tolerance”.

Unfortunately this problem is increasing, resulting in a myriad of symptoms and conditions, often life-threatening. Like a diabetic who relies on insulin to survive, some people require frequent desensitization to survive as well. However, this is not typical.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not participate in insurance billing and waiting for payment (“third-party pay”).  If we did, we would have to double our prices to cover the costs of staff billing and monitoring.  If this is a concern for you, we recommend you see one of our office mates, Dr. Julie Robotham.  Her phone number is 805-371-6144.  Dr. Julie has support staff to deal with insurance companies, which I do not.

NAET is not a covered expense at this time; payment is due at the time of service. Therefore, it is not a billable procedure.

Chiropractic services are covered by many insurance companies.  We are not third-party to any insurance company; however, we are happy to give you a “superbill” receipt for covered services which you can submit to your insurance carrier for direct reimbursement.
